Welcome to Divine Pups, where we breed Shih Tzus that are happier, healthier, and more confident than your average Kardashian.
I’m Ara, the mastermind behind this dog-loving breeding program. I am a girl living my dream. I am a Shih Tzu breeder, and I am right where I need to be. You see, I believe in a purposeful life and true destiny. That’s why I feel blessed to have my family as my support and strong foundation to take leaps of faith in this journey as a breeder.
I didn’t just wake up one day and decide to become a dog breeder. I mean, who does that? But after years of soul searching, I finally realized that my true calling was to become a Shih Tzu Breeder. And let me tell you, getting certified as a Comprehensive Tier 2 BAB(Badass Breeder) , a Certified Puppy Evaluator, and a Gooddog Breeder was no easy feat. But I did it, and now I’m pursuing my dog trainer certification because there’s always something new to learn, and let’s face it, I don’t want my puppies to be the ones who don’t know the latest tricks. I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, and I did work in Corporate America for years. But I knew it wasn’t my calling, I knew it wasn’t where I belonged.
Well, what can I say? My mom is my ride-or-die, my partner in crime, my confidant, and also my best friend. And my dad? Oh, he’s just my biggest cheerleader, but I won’t hold it against him. After all, who wouldn’t be cheering when they see these precious puppies? He is also who can handle all my emotional baggage, and my personal sounding board for all those ideas that pop into my head at the most inconvenient times. Move aside, Dr. Phil – I’ve got a dad who can do it all!
My husband, he is God’s gift to my life. I’m glad I found my perfect match in my husband. He’s not just supportive, but he also takes care of the dog duties when I’m off gallivanting at another dog seminar. I mean, who wouldn’t want to spend their free time talking about puppies and puppy raising techniques? He’s a keeper, it is because of him that I have the most amazing and fulfilling life.
My kids are my pride and joy. They are the most incredible kids, and I love them more than anything. We are a total Brady-Bunch house, my oldest moved out a whole whopping 6 minutes away from us. He still comes to do his laundry here, and we are the closest medicine cabinet and grocery store apparently! Our other kiddos are still at home.
Ah, the joys of living with teenage girls! I mean, who doesn’t love unpredictable attitudes and not knowing what kind of mood their kids will be in when they wake up? It’s like a game of emotional roulette every morning! And of course, since my oldest son has moved out, I deserve a free pass for everything in life. I mean, who needs accountability when you have teenage drama to deal with, am I right?
Raising a young son is a real treat! It’s like a rollercoaster ride that you never asked for, but got on anyway. And let’s not forget the joys of gaming with them. The constant updates, the confusing settings, and the occasional language change to Chinese – it’s like a puzzle you never wanted to solve. And when they start talking about Fortnite, it’s like they’re speaking a different language altogether. Let me tell you about their obsession with charging v-bucks to level up. It’s like they think they can just buy their way to victory! But hey, at least we get to see them in action as they frantically smash buttons and yell at their screens. It’s like a front-row seat to a mini meltdown every day!
And as for Houston, well, it’s hot and humid, but it’s home. And, if you’re lucky enough to be in the Houston area, you might even catch a glimpse of me and my dog therapy group spreading love and joy to those in need
Now, let’s get serious for a moment. As a breeder, I know that each puppy has their own unique personality and voice. That’s why we give them a voice placement, because we believe that each pup deserves to be heard. And don’t even get me started on the advanced service dog curriculum we use – it’s like a private school education for puppies. We even temperament test our little furballs to make sure they’re ready to take on the world and match them with their perfect forever family.
And just in case you’re wondering if we could be best friends…here are some fun facts about me:
- I wanted to be a K-9 officer as a kid.
- I sometimes talk in circles to myself, and I can’t stand chewing noises- – they make my skin crawl like a spider on crack
- I’m terrified of mice and rats, but I speak fluent Spanish ,which means I can curse out those pesky mice and rats in multiple languages.
- My favorite show is Criminal Minds or just about any murder mystery. I for some reason always think I can find the missing piece. Spoiler alert, I never do.
- I’m a total night owl. Coffee is necessary, and even more so during a loud morning. Diet Dr. Pepper and HOT Cheetos are my go-to snacks.
